Vail’s Sustainable Landscape Series, produced by High Five Access Media, took first place in the Informational Talk Show Series category in the 2022 Hometown Media Awards from the Alliance for Community Media Foundation.

High Five Access Media is working with local libraries in February and March to bring you our free basic workshops at convenient locations in Avon and Vail.

These workshops teach you the fundamentals of video cameras and computer editing. Lay the foundation for a career in a related field, or get free access to professional video equipment to start making television to share with your friends, family and neighbors on High Five Access Media and social media. Library patrons and Eagle County residents and employees are welcome to attend.

Husky home varsity football games return to the small screen this fall with live coverage on High Five Access Media. The action begins Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. when the Dawgs battle Front Range opponent the Lutheran Lions. There are several ways to watch, including local cable Channel 5, highfivemedia.org, Apple TV and Roku.

Gain the skills to express your voice through video and become active in the community. Join High Five Access Media on Aug. 17 and 18 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for free media education workshops.

Community Producer Austin Richardson relishes the opportunity to tell the stories of local clergy’s enlightenment through his show, Focus on Faith.

“Everyone has a story to tell, my goal is to give those tales wings” Austin said. “It takes a couple flaps to get off the ground, but those springy legs make all the difference. Once in flight, the soaring and swooping can begin.”

We want your voice to be heard! High Five Access Media is reopening its doors in July with orientation, free workshops and open studio and lab hours. The fun begins with Camera Basics on July 13 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. You’ll learn the fundamentals of shooting video, get familiar with basic operations of our cameras, learn about tools to improve audio and how to create a stable image. Participants also get hands-on practice shooting footage that they’ll use to piece together a short video in the follow-up workshop. In Video Editing Basics, on July 14 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., students will learn to navigate Final Cut X, piece together video effectively to tell their story, and learn how to export your projects for use on social media and broadcast.

The towns of Avon and Vail recently collaborated with High Five Access Media to purchase and incorporate the technology needed to stream council meetings and other events on Facebook Live.
