Production Assistant

Are you excited about civic engagement and the community you live in? Are you interested in creating media for local television and the internet? If so, we have an opportunity for you.

High Five Access Media - Vail, Avon and Eagle County's nonprofit, grassroots community access television station in the heart of Colorado ski country - is seeking applicants for a full time production assistant to provide video coverage of several government meetings, community events and in-house productions, as well as building our television programming schedule. This position is supervised by the Production Coordinator.

Applicants must be reliable, flexible and willing to work nights and some weekends and holidays.

Duties

  • Live multi-camera switcher production, and single-camera coverage of government proceedings
  • Editing of government proceedings and encoding of video for cablecast and video on demand
  • Scheduling of video programming for cablecast and webcast
  • Assist as crew for multi-camera event production
  • Assist Production Coordinator with production of events, promotional videos and other projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Other Requirements

  • Strong interest in community media
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving skills, capacity to troubleshoot, and provide technical solutions
  • Position requires evening and some weekend and holiday work hours
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance; must provide own transportation
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in media, film, communications, journalism or equivalent
  • One or more years of experience in media preferred
  • Demonstrated field, studio and post production knowledge and skills
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects, knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficient in operation of Mac and PC
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledgeable in Google Apps, such as Drive, Sheets, Gmail, etc.

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience. Health stipend, ski pass, and other benefits. Mileage from studio to production sites reimbursed.

Media Education and Production Coordinator

High Five Access Media, in the heart of Colorado ski country, is seeking a dynamic person to fill a full-time position that covers both Media Education Coordinator and Production Coordinator. Approximately half the week is spent coordinating or carrying out daily production of government meetings, client videos and in-house productions, as well as distribution of this content on cable and the internet. The other half is focused on all aspects of our adult and youth media education programs. This position is supervised by the Executive Director.

Applicants must be reliable, flexible and willing to work nights and some weekends and holidays.

Duties

  • Schedule, coordinate and oversee production of multi-camera and single-camera coverage of government proceedings, studio shoots, community events, client videos and in-house productions with Production Assistant and volunteer video crew
  • Backup Production Assistant on productions when needed
  • Collaborates with staff, clients and community producers to develop and bring new video productions to life
  • Director and engineer of live productions
  • Edits and encodes content for television and web distribution, as well as archival
  • Oversees cable and webcast of live and replay content, as well as electronic scheduling of said content
  • Maintains production equipment, assists in maintenance of cablecast equipment, and recommends new equipment based on needs and trends
  • Assist as crew for multi-camera event production
  • Teach field, editing, studio production and other media education workshops
  • Assist in development of youth media program; design curriculum and implement program
  • Assist in development of additional media education programs; design curriculum and implement programs
  • Marketing of and registration for media education classes
  • Prepare and maintain material for participants and teachers
  • Assist in assessment of education programs
  • Maintain and manage all education-related equipment
  • Provide technical and creative consultation to community producers
  • Plan, market and facilitate orientation sessions for Eagle County residents
  • Assist in production of promotional videos and tutorials related to education program
  • Oversee student interns
  • Track community producer credentials in a database
  • Prepare statistics for community producer participation and media education
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Minimum two years teaching and curriculum development experience
  • Demonstrated field, studio and post production knowledge and skills

  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledgeable in Google Apps, such as Drive, Sheets, Gmail, etc.
