High Five Access Media invites you to support our efforts to Watch, Create, Educate and Advocate by donating to us on Colorado Gives Day, Dec.6, 2016. Your donation ensures we can continue to provide free media education workshops, free video production equipment for the community, and low-cost video production services so nonprofits can advance their cause.

Presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank, Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy through online giving. To donate to High Five Access Media, visit Colorado Gives.

High Five Access Media's mission is to empower the local community, through media education and technology, to become civically engaged, express ideas, and advocate for causes.

The organization is a nonprofit, noncommercial, grassroots community access television station offered on Comcast Channel 5. For those who have cut the cord, live down valley or subscribe to satellite TV, all programming also is available at www.highfivemedia.org.

High Five Access Media is well known for its coverage of local government proceedings. But a large portion of the organization’s mission is to provide free access to video training, production equipment and cable and internet distribution.

Each month, High Five Access Media teaches up to six Eagle County residents, students and nonprofits how to operate cameras, microphones and computer video editing software. Once participants complete the workshops, they may check out the equipment they’ve learned about to create video that expresses their ideas or advocates for a nonprofit’s cause. All videos are shown on Comcast Channel 5 and www.highfivemedia.org.

Workshops, equipment checkout and cable and internet distribution are offered for free. Donations to this program ensure High Five Access Media can fund a video trainer, as well as purchase cameras, audio equipment, computers, and more.

With the help of donations, High Five Access Media also can offer low-cost video production services to nonprofits so they might advance their cause. Video is becoming an essential tool for nonprofits to advocate their missions, draw volunteers and earn donations from the community.

For example, High Five Access Media created 30 free videos for local nonprofits participating in Eagle County Gives this year. These videos enable the nonprofits to get the word out about Colorado Gives Day.

Eagle County Gives is a coalition of 48 Vail Valley nonprofits dedicated to strengthening the collaboration, fundraising capacity and awareness of the nonprofit sector that enhances the quality of life in Eagle County.

$1 Million Incentive Fund

Community First Foundation and FirstBank each contributed $500,000 to create a $1 Million Incentive Fund, one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country. Every nonprofit receiving a donation on Colorado Gives Day receives a portion of the fund, which increases the value of every dollar donated. For example, if High Five Access Media receives 10 percent of the total donations made on Colorado Gives Day, HFAM also receives 10 percent of the $1 Million Incentive Fund.
